I took these photos a while ago and recently rescanned them (the files were lost).. The house I grew up in burned down about a year after my parents moved out, and I went back to document it.
I went out and took some pictures on Super Tuesday near a voting location in the Upper East Side in Manhattan. I was on the corner for quite some time and it was very interesting to see the mix of people that went by!
I did a portrait up by the New Hampshire/Vermont border for Proto magazine of Elliot Fisher, who has done a lot of interesting research on the quality of health care in America. Besides getting ridiculously lost, it was pretty eventless.. although we did find a great diner on the way back, which is always a plus!
I am presenting my work at the NYC Photo Salon, January 16th at 6:30pm, at the Soho Photo Gallery at 15 White Street. The other presenters are Santiago Arvisu, Kyle Cassidy, Rivka Katvan, Ali Smith, and Jay Maisel. I haven't attended one of their meetings before, but I'm excited nonetheless! Come check it out if you have the time, there is an entry fee of $10 to help pay for the space.
Currently I have a photo on the cover of Time Out NY Kids as well as a feature story about parent types. I've never photographed babies before, and while the ones we shot were all happy, they kept crawling off set. So we put them back on, held them in place, let go for the shot, and they crawled off again. Such a vicious cycle...
Back in July I went and photographed American Idol Camp for Marie Claire Australia. It was quite an ordeal, as I moved that weekend and arrived at the car place too late and they gave my car away. Initially, I was pretty upset, since their only other car they had cost more money... but as I took the top off the brand new white Mustang Convertible, I realized it wasn't going to be too bad. I drove up to Massachusetts with the writer and my assistant, and despite the frequent power outages (always right after I set up the lights, and the model arrived), it was quite a good weekend!
